Pet Companion
The Pet Companion is a small animated character that lives in the Codux title bar. It’s there to make long sessions feel a little less lonely. It is opt-in — disable in one click and it never shows up again.
How it grows
Section titled “How it grows”Different coding patterns unlock different growth values and roadmaps:
- Sustained focus sessions push the pet down one growth path
- Frequent context-switching between projects pushes a different one
- Token-light brainstorming days vs. token-heavy implementation days both contribute
There is no leaderboard and no shame state — every path is valid.
What it does
Section titled “What it does”- Reacts to AI turn completions in the active terminal
- Occasionally chimes in during long stretches (always silent if you mute it)
- Shows a small mood / energy indicator next to the title
Turning it off
Section titled “Turning it off”Settings → Appearance → Pet Companion → Off — that’s the only switch. The growth data stays on disk in case you turn it back on later; you can also clear it from the same panel.
Privacy
Section titled “Privacy”Growth state is stored alongside other Codux app state in the local app data directory. Nothing is uploaded by the pet; it is a local feature.
